Introduction

Psychology is the branch of science, which deals with researchers working upon theories to identify realistic phenomena in human mind and body. They evolve with theories, which are valid with a certain set of actions. Erik Erikson is one of the most accomplished psychologists yet is a person who never had completed his bachelors as well. He is renowned for his famous theories and most importantly for crowning the famous phrase of identity crisis. He not only rose to fame but his son also achieved valued fame but in the field of Sociology by the name of Kai T. Erikson.

Background

Dated on 15th in the month of June in the year 1902 Erik Erikson was born in the state of Frankfurt of Germany. His interests in the fields of psychology were evident from his early ages. Karla Abrahamsen, His mother was from a Danish background that had arrived from the state of Copenhagen, while his father who also had a Jewish background namely Waldemar Isidor Salomonsen was a stockbroker. His father had actually not seen his mother during the years of his birth, and not much information about his biological father is present except he was Dane. After giving birth to Erik his mother trained to become a nurse and had soon left for Theodor Homburger where she trained from year 1905. His childhood was a complex one as his mates in school life teased him.

While he was, a student he had also became a teacher of arts, in those times in a private school in Vienna he fell in love with Anna Freud who was the daughter of Sigmund feud. At their suggestion, he went under psycoanalysis and from there found the flare to become an analyst by himself. He received his early training from the Vienna Psychoanalytic Institute and further studied for specialization the Montessori Method to focus upon sexual stages of children and child development.

Erikson was married to Joan Serson Erikson who was a Canadian national in the year 1930 and during his marriage; he had converted from Jewish to Christianity. As Nazis got hold of Germany he had migrated from Germany towards Denmark initially and later to the United States of America.
