Introduction

In this developing era of information technology, almost every sector is integrating information technologies in order to make their operations efficient and fast. Due to the ever increasing demand in the integration of information technology and internet, security concerns are raising simultaneously. Issues related to security have become a major problem for today's computer professionals (Galloway, 2009). Security concerns are increasing which are necessary to be mitigated and therefore several professionals have proposed several different and efficient techniques and tools for resolving the security issues. Against online banking, there have been many malware attacks and these attacks are increasing by the figure of 60,000 on annual basis. Moreover, nearly 85 % of the banks sustained losses due to these attacks. The research reveals that Nigerian General scam lost nearly $41 billion which is amongst the most famous internet frauds. Internet fraud is still growing at a rate of 5% (Galloway, 2009). The number of new threats distributed and created each day has been increased from nearly 55000 to 63000.

The researchers claim that due to the increment in the desktop's power to crack passwords, any password's length with seven or fewer number characters is insufficient. The research shows that attacker probes every computer which is connected to the internet at least once in every 39 seconds (Galloway, 2009). The attacks are continuing to escalate which need to be eliminated from the networking systems and computer systems of any business organization. The paper will discuss the significance of security in computer and networking systems. IT experts are struggling to make the information systems even more secured by implementing different new techniques and tools for mitigating security issues (Galloway, 2009). The paper will highlight the security threats as well as all the important and high-tech security techniques and tools that are working effectively today. The paper will further illustrate the role and impact of these newly developed and designed techniques and tools in providing highly secured and protected computer and networking systems (Galloway, 2009).

Discussion and Analysis

The security has been of great importance since the early period of 21st century. If we look back to the history, we will not find any time when people were protecting themselves and their property from repeated attacks by invisible enemies. Subway massacres, suicide car bombings, random shootings, guerrilla commando raids and airplane hijackings take place all around the world on regular basis (Jackson, 2012). In order to thwart this brutality and violence, many organizations along with governments are implementing new techniques for ensuring security defences. Fences are being erected across the borders and telephone calls are also being monitored. Hence, security has become the basic element in almost every application. Thus, these security attacks and defences have made a great impact on almost every constituent in our day to day lives. Information technology has been one of the biggest sufferers of these attacks (Jackson, 2012).
