Personal leadership vision

Introduction

The purpose of this paper is to present an in-depth exploration of my personal leadership vision in the context of the educational administrative role that I plan to pursue within the next five years or so. Majority of the practices described in this paper and that I plan to adopt are common to effective leadership and management in several sectors and situations, particularly in educational settings. The four main classes of effective leadership practices that would be presented in this paper as part of my prospective vision as an education administrator include;

Set out directions;

Develop individuals;

Redesign the institution; and

Manage the learning and teaching programs

All these classes, further refined for being demonstrated in this vision paper, encompass some more explicit leadership behaviors and practices. It is evident through research that these classes of leadership behavior and practices are a critically significant to the development of successful education administrators that work in a secondary as well as primary school.

Setting Directions

This class of leadership practices comprises of the tremendous endeavor for the order of motivating the colleagues of administrators and leaders. It would deal with the development of an ethical rationale as a fundamental driver for my work in my administrative role. It is argued by majority of motivation theories that motivation assists individuals in accomplishing such goals that are personally significant for them. This class includes three more explicit sets of leadership practices, each of which is intended to emphasize on the collective as well as individual staff work in an educational setting. These practices, performed in a skilful manner, are amongst the major sources of inspiration and motivation for staff's work and efforts (Begley & Johansson, 2003).

Building a shared vision

The establishment of persuasive and influential vision for the future of the educational institution would be a critically significant step in pursuing charismatic as well as transformational leadership. This practice would encompass the inspirational motivation by Bass, which is marked out as focused at the identification of novel prospects for an administrator's unit, while inspiring articulating, and developing others with their prospective vision. The establishment of a shared vision for the organization would serve as a critical move towards the achievement of alignment or integration of activities within the university. This would facilitate me in binding each process together for them to support each other apart from just being consistent with one another. I would also consider setting out the major organizational values to be encompassed in the establishment of vision. The means that facilitate a vision to be achieved is specified by the core values (Billman, 2004).

Fostering the acceptance of group goals

Vision may be inspirational however actions or practice on the other hand necessitates some concord on the accomplishment of very urgent goals for the order of moving towards the achievement of the vision.
