In this paper, we are discussing the importance of having the strategic emphasis in an organization to enhance the practices of the company to be successful. Various approaches and strategies of strategic emphasis are defined and examined, and also it determines which strategy should be used in what situation.

Why is it important for an organization to adopt an appropriate strategic emphasis?

The strategic emphasis tells about the organization regarding whom it is or what is its nature, and where it is heading. Without knowing this, the executives cannot successfully lead the organization since they would not know of what is the purpose of their organization and where are they heading. The investors also have to know the nature and aim of the organization before investing. Employees also need to know the purpose of the organization and the vision for the future so that they can help the organization in achieving its aims and objectives with all their heart. These are the reasons due to which an organization has to adopt the strategic emphasis.

Briefly explain the concept of the technology based strategic emphasis.

The strategic emphasis of technology-based is a misunderstood concept. It does not automatically apply to companies that are categorized as technology or high technology companies. Producing high technology products such as electro-mechanical devices, microprocessors or computers does not equate to adopting a technology-based strategic emphasis. The companies that produce high-tech products or have high-tech processes adopt the product-based strategic emphasis.

Companies with a true technology-based strategic emphasis are those that develop their business around a specific technology-typically though not necessarily one over which they have proprietary control.
