On the eve of Christmas 1989 the body of a man named Richard Mallory was found in the forests of Daytona Beach, Florida. The body was hit by three 22-caliber pistol.

A year later, six others killed in similar bodies had been discovered. All the victims were middle-aged men found dead near a path or road. All had been robbed and murdered a 22-caliber pistol.

The FBI suspected from the outset that the crimes had been committed by one or two women with traits of serial killers. The motive for the killings, however, was not at all clear.
