CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION & ABSTRACT

Autism is a spectrum of disorders characterized by severe developmental deficits, permanent and profound. It affects socialization, communication, imagination, planning and emotional reciprocity, and repetitive behaviors or unusual evidence. Symptoms generally are the inability of social interaction, isolation and stereotypies (uncontrolled movements of limbs, usually the hands). Over time, the frequency of these disorders increases (the current incidence rates are about 60 cases per 10,000 children), because this increase, monitoring and evaluation of strategies for early identification could enable early treatment and improved performance.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

In 1943, autism was first conceptualized by Leo Kanner, a disease of the line of psychosis, characterized by extreme isolation; language disorders represented by the absence of communicative purpose, obsessive rituals type with a tendency to sameness and stereotyped movements. In this approach, the disease had its origins in the problems of the first affective relations between mother and son, who undertook social contact, idea extremely widespread until the mid-70s. Today, this disease is defined as a symptom complex of the organic base with neurological and genetic implications. Currently, autism is an area of ??intense interest in different studies that establish themselves and promote conceptual changes since until therapeutic modification of fundamental importance (Macintosh & Dissanayake, 2006).

Causes of autism are unknown but various neurological diseases and / or genetic were described with symptoms of autism. Problems chromosome, gene, and even metabolic diseases / acquired during pregnancy, during or after birth, may be associated directly to autism. Between 75 to 80% of autistic children have some degree of mental retardation, which may be related to several biological factors. Therefore, the evidence that autism has its causes in biological factors is unquestionable, making us reconsider the initial idea of the framework we link autism to change in the early mother-child relations.
