Peoples' Dependence on Computers Technology

The trend of computerization has become increasingly common in the present era of technology. The use of computers in field of education, manufacturing, organizational handling and almost in every aspect of life can be observed in the everyday activities of the human race. Computers known to have provided ease in everyday processes of our lives and improvised the way of our working, communication and relaxation. Also, the breakthrough in computer technology and rise of autonomous systems are likely to replace human workforce in future, thereby increasing the dependency on computers. However, the extensive computerization trend is challenged by some controversial issues. Can computers as a human substitution lead to the negative consequences of the technological advancements? The answer to this is yes. This paper is intended to create awareness in the common people about the implications of the dependence on computer technology.

What is our vision about our world in 2020? The pace of the proliferation of the computer technology will alter the way of our lives in more ways. But the question is that whether the developments brought about by the computers will make us feel happier, safer and connected or raise our current living standards? For a long time, these risks were considered insignificant due to the enormous promises of computer technology however incidents occurring in the last two decades emphasized the complexity of such risks and long term socio-economic effects of computer technology (Harper, 2008). The associations of risks with computers take to primary forms. The risk of failure covers the failures associated with the complexities of the computer technology some of which are less likely to predict or prevent by common users. Social issues arise when such ...
